Autism Continuing Education (CE/CEU) Courses

Autism Continuing Education (CE/CEU) Courses

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now estimates that 1 in 54 eight year-old children have an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Research indicates that the outcomes for children with ASD can be significantly improved by early identification and intensive intervention. How can you be better prepared to help these students be successful? These continuing education courses prepare psychologists, special and general education teachers, speech/language pathologists, occupational therapists and other support personnel for working with this special population of children and youth.
Online Course

Available as an online course, Autism Spectrum Disorder: Evidence-Based Screening & Assessment, identifies DSM-5 diagnostic changes in the ASD diagnostic criteria, summarizes the empirically-based screening and assessment methodology in ASD, and describes a comprehensive developmental approach for assessing students with ASD. This course will prepare you to recognize the presence of risk factors and/or early warning signs of ASD and be familiar with screening and assessment tools in order to ensure that students with ASD are being identified and provided with the appropriate programs and services. Course #31-25 | 2020 | 55 pages | 20 post-test questions

As a parent-advocate, Dr. Wilkinson's book is both comprehensive and easy to digest. It's comprehensive because it provides readers with a 10,000 foot view of the landscape. It's easy to digest because it is written in language that non-professionals can understand.

Dr. Wilkinson and his book treat parent-advocates with respect, compassion, and actionable insight. When parent-advocates feel empowered to bring that kind of authoritative guidance to their school district meetings (without trying to supplant the day-to-day work done by the teachers and counselors), good things for their children naturally result.

Bottom line: it's all about the kids. Dr. Wilkinson and his book help parent-advocates authoritatively play a central role in crafting the journey to reach that goal.

If you read only one book, this is the one.
