A BEST PRACTICE GUIDE TO ASSESSMENT AND INTERVENTION
FOR AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER IN SCHOOLS
( 2nd Edition)

Lee A. Wilkinson, PhD

“It is rare that one book can pack so many resources and easy to digest information into a single volume! Families, school personnel, and professionals all need the extensive, and up-to-date tips, guides, and ‘must-knows’ provided here. It’s obvious the author is both a seasoned researcher and practitioner – a winning combination.” - Dr. Debra Moore, psychologist and co-author with Dr. Temple Grandin, of The Loving Push: How Parents & Professionals Can Help Spectrum Kids Become Successful Adult

“Dr Wilkinson has done it again. This updated and scholarly Second Edition reflects important recent changes regarding diagnosis and services for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. With its numerous best-practice suggestions, it is a must-read for school psychologists, school social workers, and those who teach in general and special education.” - Dr Steven Landau, Professor of School Psychology in the Department of Psychology, Illinois State University

“This book is an essential resource for every educator that works with students with ASD! The easy-to-read format is complete with up to date research on evidence-based practices for this population, sample observation and assessment worksheets and case studies that allow the reader to apply the information presented.” - Gena P. Barnhill, PhD, NCSP, BCBA-D, LBA, Director of Special Education Programs at Lynchburg College, Lynchburg, VA

"As a practicing psychologist and psychotherapist with 20 years of experiencing I believe I am qualified to say that Dr. Wilkinson's book is a "must have!" Comprehensive and concise, informative and quite practical - this book should be on the bookshelf or in the backpack of practicing professionals and graduate students who work with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. If you ever wanted all you "really need to know" about a topic in one place - I sincerely recommend Dr. Wilkinson's book." - Dr. Dan Pezzulo, PhD, LCSW, NCSP, CBIS, ABSNP
“A great resource for practicing school psychologists, including interns. The book contains examples of IEP goals and objectives, best practice guidelines, and case examples (to name a few). It is well written and will be beneficial not only to school psychologists but other school professionals/educators as well.” - Sadie Trunck, MA, CAS, NCSP, Lecturer, School Psychology Graduate Program, State University of New York, Plattsburgh
"I wish I had this book as a guide when I was a member of the Child Study Team (years ago) as a School Psychologist. The areas of assessment are thorough and leave little room for questioning or error in the evaluation process. Further, good evaluation and diagnostic data then informs the treatment plan, and school program. This book is also equally as helpful to the parent of a child who is consulting with his/her neurologist and or pediatrician. - Dr. Liz Matheis, Ph.D. Psychological and Educational Consulting
"I have found Dr. Lee Wilkinson's Second Edition of his best practice book to be a continued must read for the school psychology practitioner and other support professionals. School psychologists will find the list of assessment domains and tools especially helpful in selecting the appropriate instruments for screening and conducting a comprehensive developmental evaluation. The appendices contain checklists and observation forms that can be used in everyday practice. This book is a valuable resource and a welcome addition to the school psychologist’s professional library." - Dr. Angelo J De Simone, Ed.D., School Psychologist
